The Mercadillo Villa de Mazo is located in the market hall in the heart of Mazo and is considered one of the most authentic farmers' markets on La Palma. Here, regional products, traditional handicrafts, and Canarian joie de vivre come together. Visitors will find a wide selection of fresh fruit and vegetables directly from the island’s fields, aromatic Canarian mojo sauces, homemade specialties, as well as the famous baked goods from La Palma that are almost impossible to resist. Those looking for a special souvenir will also find what they are searching for here: handcrafted jewelry, traditional ceramics, artistic embroidery, and the well-known cigars from La Palma are offered at fair prices. Almost a must-try is the freshly pressed sugarcane juice (“Guarapo”) – traditionally mixed with orange or passion fruit. This specialty has a long tradition in Villa de Mazo and is particularly well known on the island. In terms of taste, it is on par with the artisan breads and homemade jams that are also offered at the market. The market is especially popular on weekends as a meeting point for locals and visitors who wish to experience the authentic side of La Palma.
