About us

The Museo de la Seda Las Hilanderas in El Paso on La Palma is a unique museum and living craft workshop, where the centuries-old tradition of silk production is preserved. In historic rooms in the center of El Paso, visitors can experience firsthand the fascinating process – from breeding silkworms to spinning and weaving, as well as the artistic processing and traditional embroidery work of Palmerian silk. The museum not only displays historical exhibits but also offers insight into active workshops and a small museum shop selection of handcrafted silk products such as scarves, bags, or cloths. Visitors appreciate the combination of culture, craftsmanship, and living history, which makes the Museo a special experience on La Palma. The museum is generally open Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm (please check current hours before visiting, as seasonal opening times may change).
